Presented by Emily Nelson / Barre 3
Session Three, 4:00PM – 5:00PM, Oct 4, 2019
The World Health Organization defines wellness as “…a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” How many of us actually fit that description? In this workshop, we’ll embark on a journey that will help build your best self from within. Together, through guidelines and goals tailored to your personal lifestyle, we’ll construct a fitness and nourishment plan that steers away from the expectations and standards set forth by the fitness industry, and create a road map that ends with your realization that you are enough.

Emily earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama, and began her career with the Mobile County Public School System as a kindergarten teacher in 2014. Having always been interested in physical fitness, she chose running as her primary form of physical activity and stress relief. What began as a casual pastime became a passion and led to her joining the Board of Directors for the Port City Pacers (a Road Runners Club of America responsible for organizing the Azalea Trail Run and more). In the 3 years that followed, she continued to train for and compete in races ranging from 5Ks to a full marathon that she completed in 2018. During the same time, she was introduced to barre3 by a colleague as a means to cross-train for running and quickly discovered that barre3 was much more than another form of exercise. Barre3 is actually a community of women focused on wellness through physical fitness and self-care. Her early experience with barre3 led her to join the staff as a front desk associate, train to become a barre3 instructor and seize the opportunity to marry her love of fitness and teaching into being the owner of her own barre3 studio in Mobile, AL. Since then, Emily has worked diligently to create a community that educates women of all ages about what it really means to find “wellness.” Emily is currently training for her first triathlon this fall and looks forward to meeting this goal and continue to lead others to discover ways to fuel, stretch and strengthen their bodies and minds, while maintaining her focus on wellness and self-care.
